This process-driven class focuses on creating a piece of art that derives from mark-making, layering, uncertainty/spontaneity, and response. Practice 'pure drawing', discover problem solving techniques, and learn to trust in your creative intuition. Throughout this workshop, students will receive individual advice on developing their artistic voice, and will have the chance to look at ways in which art can be produced outside of these traditions. Showing a willingness to take risks, to transform materials and conventions, are key to creating a portfolio that stands out amongst the rest and leaves a lasting impression.
About Portfolio Development: Designed for high school students who are hoping to pursue art at the college level or who would like to experience more technical development, Portfolio Development classes include instruction in techniques most sought after by college admissions counselors for acceptance and exemptions. During each Portfolio Development workshop, students will produce a single, completed work that can be added to any portfolio or application. Sign up for individual workshops or the entire series.
