World jazz trio La Voz de Tres combines Latin American music with original compositions and picks from the great American songbook to create their own truly unique sound.
The New York City-based jazz trio includes Chilean vocalist Natalia Bernal, keyboardist Mike Eckroth and seven-string guitarist Jason Ennis. The band has appeared at some of the top jazz venues in the U.S., and their self-titled CD La Voz De Tres has received extensive national airplay.
For this performance, the trio will play music from their most recent CD, Sueños y Delirios (Dreams and Deliria), focused on the lyrical theme of dreams.
A recent performance was described as “a world-jazz musical experience. The trio’s exceptional originality and style seemed to cause listeners to be mesmerized by the soaring clarity of Bernal’s high notes and the bluesy warmth of her voice in the lower register.” (All About Jazz)
Brian Torff, the Westport Arts Center’s Artistic Director for Jazz stated, “Natalia Bernal is an exceptional talent, one of the best vocalists I have heard in quite a long time. Her warmth and extreme musicality combined with the sensitive guitar accompaniment of Jason Ennis should make this a very special concert.”
“The ambiance of the Westport Arts Center should be perfect for an intimate concert of jazz mixed with South American styles. Jazz is universal and takes on many fascinating sounds when mixed with other cultures,” Torff added.
As part of the concert event, Torff will share his commentary on the trio and their program, providing an opportunity for jazz aficionados to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of the genre.
The Westport Arts Center provides an opportunity to experience exceptional performances in an intimate, up-close-and-personal setting. The Westport Artists’ Collective 6th Pop Up Exhibition, featuring fifteen local artists, will serve as the backdrop for the performance.
Tickets are $25 for Westport Arts Center members and $30 for non-members and can be purchased on www.westportartscenter.org or by calling 203.222-7070. A limited number of discounted Senior concert tickets will be available for presale at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Avenue, Westport.
