Homeschool
Our specialized homeschool projects are designed with family input to offer students in-depth art discovery in a group setting. Students will get their hands on an array of materials, exploring the possibilities while expressing themselves through the arts. Combining art history and hands-on practice, this class is a full-range art experience. These 1.5-hr weekly sessions change in theme throughout the year. MEET THE MODERN MASTERS
Calling all future masters of art! Please join us at the Westport Arts Center for six days of fun over February Break. Sign up for all six days or select a few! We will learn about several different kinds of movements and the artists that practiced them.
Up to 3 sessions are $75 each.

Claude Monet’s water lilies and haystacks are some of the most well-known art pieces of the last 150 years. Join us and learn how to make those impressionistic pieces that capture but a moment. Work with watercolor and gouache and create the perfect Monet-like pieces.

Escher & LeWitt’s Illusions
Optical Illusions are a fundamental part of artwork in the last century. Artists like M.C. Escher and Sol LeWitt learned how to take drawing lines to the next incredible level. Students in this class will learn how to take drawing to the next level and create drawings that come out of the page.

Comics with Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein made a street type medium into a fine art. Taking images from culture Lichtenstein put his own mark on them and made single panels shine. Come and join us as we create paintings of comic panels. Feel free to bring in your favorite comic book or create one all of your own in this workshop!

Scholarships
Through the generosity of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center Foundation (DFCAC), the Westport Arts Center announces new need-based art scholarships available to students in Westport, Connecticut.
One needs-based scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded to an outgoing high school senior who will be attending an arts-based college program in Fall 2018. Students can apply by completing the application below. Applications for the high school scholarship were due by April 30. 2018; the application is now closed.
Secondly, scholarships are available for individual weeks of the Westport Arts Center’s Summer Camp program. Summer Camp features week-long workshops for ages 4-12, with morning sessions dedicated to ages 4-7 and afternoon sessions designed for ages 8-12. Themed weeks range from painting to clay to three-dimensional art. To learn more about our Summer Camp click here.
Scholarship applicants must demonstrate financial need. To initiate the process for either the high school or summer camp scholarship opportunity, applicants must contact the Town of Westport’s Human Services Department at 203-341-1050 to make an appointment for scholarship consideration.
