Tickets are now on sale for the Westport Arts Center’s Hall of Femme 2018 fundraiser gala. The annual gala will take place on Saturday, May 19 at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, CT.
The Westport Arts Center is known for hosting imaginative and artistically rich galas with timely themes. Hall of Femme will continue this tradition, celebrating legendary women in art. To add to the fun of the evening, guests are invited to dress in creative cocktail attire as their favorite artist, muse or work of art.
Hall of Femme will include a live auction, silent auction, photo booth, live band and more artful surprises.
Amanda Innes, Executive Director for the Westport Arts Center, stated, “With every gala, we aim to highlight an aspect of the art world that is thematically rich and culturally relevant. This year, with Hall of Femme, we are highlighting the importance of great women artists from the 20th century through to today. Contemporary culture tends to overlook these otherwise iconic names – Bourgeoise, Dumas, Frankenthaler, Hesse, Kahlo, O’Keeffe, Martin – and we are creating an event to celebrate them in unexpected and innovative ways.”
The annual fundraiser plays a significant role in supporting Westport Arts Center’s arts and outreach programs in Westport and the greater Fairfield County community.
Corporate sponsors of Hall of Femme to date include Cohen and Wolf, P.C., Fairfield County Bank, Hofstetter Baron Group/Wells Fargo Advisors and Sontag Advisory.
In addition to tickets to the event, the general public can also purchase raffle tickets to support the Westport Arts Center. Raffle tickets are available for $50/ticket and are available for purchase on the Westport Arts Center website or by calling 203/222-7070 beginning in April. The grand prize for the raffle is four floor level tickets to the Ed Sheeran concert at MetLife Stadium on Friday, September 21, 2018. The winner will be announced at the gala (winner need not be present to win).
The 2018 gala is aligned with the Westport Arts Center’s current exhibition, Handmade: Women Reshaping Contemporary Art, on view March 23 – June 2. The exhibition includes artwork by a diverse range of over 15 female artists with a focus on fiber and textile arts. Artists of note include Miriam Schapiro, Lesley Dill, Faith Ringgold, Judith Scott, Beverly Semmes and Rosemarie Trockel. The exhibition is curated by Elizabeth Gorayeb, the Executive Director of the Wildenstein Plattner Institute, Inc., a nonprofit art historical research foundation based in New York.
