Hailed by critics as a ‘thinking’ musician with engaging stage presence and a gratifying combination of virtuosity and eloquence, pianist Pedja Muzijevic has defined his career with creative programming, unusual combinations of new and old music, and lasting collaborations with other artists and ensembles. The London Financial Times eloquently sums him up as “a virtuoso with formidable fingers and a musician with fiercely original ideas about the music he plays.”
For this performance, Pedja will perform a theme of “Pictures at an Exhibition” featuring Joseph Haydn’s Sonata in C, Hob. xvi: 50, John Cage’s In a Landscape, George Crumb’s Pastorale, and Wagner, arr. Liszt’s Lieberstod from Tristan and Isolde, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
Unique to the Westport Arts Center series, the performance will include commentary by the Arts Center’s Performing Arts co-curator Russell Platt, providing an opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation for the music performers and genres.
Get your tickets in advance -- a special reception and opportunity to meet Pedja will be held at Saugatuck Congregational Church immediately following the concert. The reception is only open to those who purchase tickets to the concert in advance (by 5pm on Friday, December 2).
